JOE IAGNEMMA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
The Joe Iagnemma Scholarship Fund was established in 2015, after the successful launch of the Joe Iagnemma Memorial Jr High Wrestling Tournament. The scholarship awards scholarships annually to graduating senior wrestlers who have demonstrated a true love of the sport.
The tournament, established in 2012, features over twenty-five Junior High wrestling programs from across Southwestern Pennsylvania. In just four seasons the tournament gained a reputation as one of the most competitive tournaments for Junior High wrestlers in the area. The tournament honors South Fayette great, Joe Iagnemma, from the class of 1984. Joe was the first South Fayette wrestler to medal at the P.I.A.A. State Tournament, where he placed fourth at 98lbs in 1983. After graduating high school, Joe went on to wrestle at the University of Pittsburgh. Tragically, his life was cut short before finishing his college career. This tournament keeps his memory and contributions to the South Fayette wrestling program alive. All revenue generated from the Joe Iagnemma Memorial Tournament has historically gone to support the wrestlers in the South Fayette Junior High and Varsity wrestling programs.
